Instructions for Morphman:
1) Review the tutorial first
2) The Art of Plotting Points
• Open a source photo and target photo
– File, Source, Image
– File, Target, Image
• The source and target both have drop down menus, mostly use the polygon tool, and then circle for cheeks and forehead.
• Match EACH EXACT point to both pictures… each point NEEDS to match up on whichever feature it correlates with in the pictures! (i.e. if one point on the source is on the tip of the nose, the target ALSO needs to have that EXACT point on the tip of the nose – otherwise it will distort the morph)
• Use the arrow button to move groups of points, use the other with the arrow and lines to move individual points. To check if the points match up on each picture, click each one and it will light up red on the other morph.
• Make sure you outline all the obvious features (eyes, mouth, lips, etc.) including the forehead, hairline, and neckline.
• To preview the image, go to Preview – 50%. This usually works but you can also go to Preview, preview size, 25% or 50%.
NOTE: Each AP should end up taking about an hour (not at first but eventually they will) and the LATs should take about 30-45 minutes.
3) Saving into a JPEG
• After you are completely finished morphing, you will need to turn the morph into a JPEG (to then be Photoshopped and Rated).
• Go to Edit, Save Options
• Under frames, make sure your Range is: from 5 to 5… 1st frame 5 – this is because we need to have the 50% morph (half of each parent). The Morphman program allows us to have a scale of 1-10 (i.e. you can have a 20% of one parent and 80% of the other) but we only use the 50% morph. Click “ok”.
• Lastly, go to file, create “Sequence”. Save the morph into your ORGANIZED file and click “ok”. Wait a second for the morph to save and then you’ll get a window popup. You need to move the Quality bar to 100%. That’s it!
